7-9 against the weakest division in the league. Not good. Interesting to see what happens on Tuesday... |

Would Lee have been someone who could have helped. I wouldn't think he would have been much of an upgrade. |

John Jaeckel: UPDATE: Lee internet browsing wrong place Might Have No Legs - John Jaeckel
Fixed for You!
You said the Rumor was from Montréal Canada, then you saw it from 2 canadians media, funny thing is i didnt see it in rds.ca.
***EDIT***
Hawks Circling
Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman is still looking for help on defence leading up to the trade deadline. Jesse Rogers on ESPN. com reports there is nothing imminent though as there are currently alot more buyers than sellers with so many teams still in the playoff race.
Bowman also said that he is comfortable with the current group is no deals can be made. The Blackhawks are currently giving up 2.92 goals per game which ranks 25th in the NHL and 14th in the Western Conference.
I got this from TSN. like you said it was in ESPN but ESPN has diffrent report. I still bet you had adrenaline when you saw Brian Lee and Chicago Blackhawks. |

What I heard Bowman say was that because there are so few teams out of the playoff race that there are no real confirmed sellers and plenty of buyers, so he can't find a partner.
If he is comfortable with his current group on defence he is either a liar or blind. |

You are building an argument based on inaccuracy. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are, like I was, confused. I said two media outlets had Brian Lee listed on the Hawks' roster. Which was true. I said Canadian media out of Montreal had discussed a Sens' Brian Lee to the Hawks possibility this AM. Or at least, that is what I meant. I am told it was on a sports radio show in Montreal. For what it's worth, which apparently isn't much.
I have no reason to mislead here. I've done a mea culpa on this.

Call me cynical but I see no dead line trade involving a player with an expiring contract that is going to change the negative defensive trends and attitude they have established.
There only source of help is with in themselves and these next 6 road games will tell if they are willing to help themselves.
From Jesse Rogers recent entry: "The Hawks have never been a great in-their-own-zone team. They need their goalie in those situations. Better goalie play could go a long way to reducing the goals against problem.
The other reason for optimism is based more on hope than anything else. Maybe the Hawks can roll when they get to the playoffs simply because they are waiting for spring to arrive. The Hawks aren’t committed to playing defense right now. Come April and May, it’s safe to say they’ll care. Both Joel Quenneville and Stan Bowman have essentially said the same thing recently: These individuals and this team have done good things previously, so they expect them to do it again. The problem with that line of thinking is the Blackhawks have not played well defensively at any point this season.
You would assume they would turn it on in the postseason. The leaders on the Hawks know what it takes to win -- they do have pride. They simply don’t care enough about games in January and February until they’re embarrassed to care or fall enough in the standings it wakes them up."
This idea that the Hawks can just turn it on and not being committed to defense right now is really troubling. I have hard time believing a team with Toews, Hossa, Keith and Seabs can tolerate or embrace this type of attitude and thinking! |

+1
They can't just turn it on when they want to. Look at last years playoffs. They didn't decide to start playing until game 4. Vancouver had total control in the series. It was a nice comeback by the Hawks to get to a game 7 but a case of too little too late. |

TOP DEFENSIVE CORPS
So Im a subscriber to The Hockey News. Seen as how I've been busy Im a few issues in arrears and have been finally catching up. The January 23rd issue (now remember in print magazines are couple weeks behind everything at time of publication, So January 23rd is reflecting what was happening on the ice January 1-7 or so) ranks the top defensive corps in the game by team. '
The rankings are assimilated and tallied by league GM's, players, coaches and writers. So this is not just one writer taking a shot in the dark. They take in to account 1-6 as well as any reserves signed and on the roster. They also take into account age and percent of cap hit space ALL these defenders take up THE BEST DEFENSIVE CORPS WINNERS THIS YEAR ARE ..........................................wait for it..................................The CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS. Yep I nearly fell out of bed. So if other GMS players and renowned writers are saying we have the number ONE defensive corps in the world then WTF is the problem.
It seems as least by these standards that Bowman has done his job at least on the back end. OR do you like me think that THN maybe would like a muligan on this one. |

If this is true, and I think it probably is watching this club since the Cup season, whoever has this mindset needs to be moved, yesterday. I don't care who it is and if you get less talent back from moving said person(s) you will improve simply by subtraction.
They gonna hope the Wild beat the Stars on the last day of the season again to get an 8 seed?

Goaltending shaky + Huet still under contract (5.6 M full season cap hit, less so for the season remaining).
Last look at his Euro numbers were pretty good, of course against against softer competition.
Finish the season with 3 netminders? |

Huet the last 2 years with HC Fribourg Gotteron
10-11 2.83 GAA .919 SV%
11-12 1.99 GAA .932 Sv%
Just sayin', way better than Crawford or Emery, plus he has successful playoff experience. And he doesn't cost you any players from the current roster. |

Another question from the "where are they now" list. Jordan Hendry on one leg would be a better option than #32 |

No this is an actual legit ranking they do every year and like I said this is not one writer making a mistake. This is a tally from other players, coaches GMS etc.. There was no literary freedoms taken with the writing. The Hawks won the damn thing. |
